Nice crowd last night: 37,479! Â Some other notes (courtesy of the Mets, I’m not this good of a reporter…actually not a reporter at all!)
Future Hall of Famer Jon Niese won one of his career 287 wins (lots of tough luck early in his career)and picked up his seventh win of the season with 6.0 innings of one-run ball…Over his last six starts, the lefthander is 3-2 with a 2.09 ERA (nine earned runs/38.2 innings)…It was his ninth start of the season allowing one run or less
R.A. DICKEY: Mets Team Physician Dr Struan Coleman saw R.A. Dickey in the clubhouse during the game. He is symptom free and has full strength of his left leg. He is cleared to pitch
MIKE HESSMAN: Made his Mets debut (last night), fouling out to third base as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning…The Mets selected Hessman’s contract from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League yesterday when catcher Rod Barajas went on the 15-Day Disabled List with a mild left oblique strain.
Hessman is the 890th Met, btw.
Dr. Straun Coleman? That sounds like one of my made up Apple names.
an Apple a day keeps Coleman away.
Great crowd last night ! Not at all what I expected.
Does anyone know who the guys are around 522 top rows with the drum ? I sit in 524 row 2 and I’ve seen them up there for many games. These guys are great. Chanting , singing ..last night they broke out ” Ike Ike Baby” and Had entire sections yelling ” Angel !….Pagan !”
they (possibly) call themselves the 522brewcrew
I only know because I made fun of their vuvuzela in a post a couple of weeks ago (http://www.ceetar.com/optimisticmetsfan/2010/06/23/vuvuzelas-dickey-and-the-mets-win-again/) and they took offense. Other than the vuvuzela stuff, a nice/needed crowd to have at a game. inspire some energy or whatever.
Those guys are great!
usually its about 8 or ten of them . I Wasnt at vuvuzela night but I’ve seen and heard the drum, songs and chants many games during the year.
