Anyone know about the Mets fan with B.O.?

Hi! Love your blog!! Hoping you can help me. I was at friday’s game vs Atlanta and in between innings they said they had an announcement. And they called out a guy’s name and said ‘you have ….b.o!’ and it was promoting gillette deodorant. The guy was in my section and looked really embarrassed and then took off with his girlfriend going after him. Do you know if this is a normal promotion they do at citifield or were they actors? It was just weird to see the guy leave and he looked so upset… Hoping you can help

Sounds to me like someone was filming an ad…or the Mets have gotten agressive with product placement.

Anyone know?

  1. Yeah, what Corey said. I was sitting about 10 rows in front of the guy and it definitely seemed like they were actors. In fact, we had trouble getting to our seats because there was a camera crew there with a ton of gear, and it definitely wasn’t the Pepsi Party Patrol people or anything.

It was pretty hilarious, though. The actor in question was really good at playing up how upset he was; a lot of people in our section clearly fell for it. I imagine we’ll be seeing the commercial on TV in a couple months.

  2. @Ted Saw this yesterday.. The guy looked pretty upset. It seemed like he wasn’t really in on the joke. The regular Citi Field camera crew for scoreboard promotions between innings is usually one camera-lady.

  3. Gillette should get an award for this. People with b.o. need to know it’s not cool. I can’t think of a better way to tell them than to expose them in front of an entire stadium. Now that’s funny. I doubt that guy was an actor. He definitely had b.o. Hopefully we’ll see more stinkers up there on the jumbotron. Thanks Gillette.

  4. Now that caught me by surprise! I thought he won some prize but he actually had body odor. Great, great, great idea!!! B.O. Boy was so embarrassed. We all yelled at him and he got up to leave Citifield. He took it like a champ.
