I think for me this yearbook sums up why I am not at all attached to the 2000 Mets. John Franco in a black jersey with his hat turned backwards. An entire cover of black uniforms. I don’t expect many people to agree with my feelings.
Incredibly the Mets went to the World Series and didn’t raise the price of the yearbook.
Smells like you’ve got “old fart” syndrome. Just because they didn’t play when you were 10, you don’t love one of the best Mets teams.
I’m old too, and I’ve never been a huge fan of John Franco or black uniforms, but I had more fun at Shea from 1998-2000 than any other period in my 35 years of being a fan.
And what’s the deal with Franco smiling and raising his arms in triumph? And those Mets embracing in the middle of the page? They’re acting like they won a pennant or something.
Those black uniforms say Mets and they were worn in the service of the attainment of a league championship. Aesthetics and heritage notwithstanding, that’s why I’ll always be attached to them.
