Random notes from tonight’s Mets game one

In case you’re wondering why I didn’t post the lineup, I never got it.  That’s not a complaint or a dig, just telling you why.  I imagine it’s very busy between games of a DH and there’s better things to do than worry about fat bloggers.  (Seriously, no sarcasm).

The Mets did send out some cool notes…

PITCHERS USED: When Hisanori Takahashi entered the game with two outs in the eighth inning, he became the eighth Mets pitcher used to tie the franchise record for a nine inning game…It is ninth time in franchise history that the Mets have used eight hurlers in a game and the first since September 26, 2008 vs. Florida…The Mets have used nine pitchers in an extra inning game four times, most recently on September 23, 2007 at Florida in an 11 inning contest.

WRIGHT HOME RUNS: After connecting on a two-run home run in the fourth inning David Wright has now hit home runs in three straight games…It marks the fourth time in his career that he has hit home runs in three straight games and the first time since April 12-15, 2008…Wright hit home runs in a career-high four straight games from June 7-10, 2007…The last Met to hit home runs in three consecutive games was Carlos Delgado from May 22-24, 2008.

I am half asleep so maybe I’m missing it but not in the notes is something I saw on twitter….DW passed Dave Kingman’s mark for most strikeouts in a season.  For those of us who saw Kingman that is an astounding fact.  Kingman either whiffed or hit the ball half way up the Shea scoreboard.   To think David would K that many times…

This next thing makes me happy for the kid.  I know I razzed him on the blog a few times…maybe he should start over me in left…but I’m still staying on everyone’s case to Man Up and Play Better.  (Then again with Beltran shut down and now Evans with a shoulder injury maybe I will start in left.)

LUCAS DUDA:  Went 2-5 this afternoon with his third home run of the season…Over his last 11 games, Duda is hitting .414 (12-29) with three home runs and 10 RBI…The rookie has four multi-hit games in his last eight starts.

I was there for every one of those miserable innings last night.
I know that they are playing out the string buy so are the Brewers.
Made Bush who was seven and thirteen with a 4.70 ERA look like Cy Young.
How gutless can a team be to come back from a six run deficit and still boot it away.
    Talk about spitting the bit.

Every player should be assigned a military fire or police man as a 24/7 life coach.
To think these are supposed to be elite athletes.
Four year olds show more elan sitting in the principal’s office than these so-called players.
If they had an ounce of pride and dignity they would donate their salaries to charity.
Baseball is supposed to be a distraction from our work a day misery not an addition.
For shame from top to bottom.
Instead of let’s go Mets we should chant bring on the pumpkins
