Charliegate Update in the News

The Daily News has some new angles on Charliegate starting with the headline that Willie and Jerry didn’t trust him.

I’ve never played major league baseball so I don’t know if it is common for an equipment manager to let ownership know what’s going on. I personally have a good boss who let’s me manage my team and doesn’t worry about how we get our results. In case you’re wondering, Im a Torre – I let my stars play and I chew my bullpen.

The article also suggests that Charlie was selling various items.

I continue to fear this story and have come up with some apocalyptic Pete Rose scenarios in my head. Charlie was in that locker room for a long long time so who knows where this could lead.

When Unnamed Donuts chain finally sponsors the blog I think Im going to make Michael Baron the first free agent signing. He’s like a machine covering for Cerrone over on Mets Blog.

When Google buys MP then I’m going to hire Greg Prince from F&F to flesh put all my half baked sentences. I can call from Hawaii with premises like “Angel Pagan is the new Joel Youngblood” (is he?) and see what comes back.

Uniforms, Mazzilli and Christmas gifts are all on deck today on Mets Police and @metspolice. Tell a friend!

  1. A couple of years ago, I bought one of Carl Everett’s old game bats from his Mets days on eBay. When I later asked Everett to sign it, he asked where I gotten it and joked that Charlie Samuels was selling stuff out of the clubhouse.

In light of the news stories now, I’m wondering if Everett was really joking.

  2. The problem with Hawaii is that day baseball starts at 7am. You’ll start to love the west coast trips because the games will be on as laste as 4pm!

    1. But Baron can cover while I sleep, then i listen to Howie on my phone, blog about the game over my lunch and at night I watch tv and send Greg half baked premises.

  3. Damn with all these free agent signing pinings by Shannon, I am starting to feel like Jerry Manuel who knows any day now that he’s on his way out.
