A radical idea…I get the “sell high” theory, but a rotation with RA Dickey as the ace…well, that could be a long year.
There is good reason to think, however, that Pelfrey’s market value is probably inflated right now, and it would behoove the Mets to sell high on him. His tidy surface stats belie the fact that he is, most likely, a rather pedestrian pitcher. After all, looking at Pelfrey’s peripherals, he is just not particularly good at anything.

I’m not wild about the idea, but if Sandy Alderson can make somebody overpay for Pelfrey he should go for it.
Sure, you could sell high, but what the Mets need is pitching. So unless you’re swapping him for a equal or better pitcher that maybe has a higher contract that a team wants to unload, it’s silly to trade him.
