Bakersfield Dodgers part 2

Remember yesterday’s post that asked about the accuracy of Brooklyn Dodgers caps and if they are actually Bakersfield Dodgers caps?

11th and Washington has explored the subject and has done a much better illustrative post than mine.

Dan did such a great job that Honor Among Bloggers comples me to send you there without even a teaser.  Trust me.

As of this writing nobody has yet told me that the RA Dickey version of the uniform looks better than the dropshadowless Seaver version.   Go ahead, I dare you. See yesterday’s post.

  1. What a great job by 11th and Wash. Oh and I won’t take that dare. It’s too obvious that the one Tom is wearing in 8 bit resolution is better than the 1080p Dickey is wearing. HANDS DOWN! I hope we see some Blue caps on the road unis this year

  2. That’s because I thought RA looked dashing in that photo.

The article, unless I read it wrong, didn’t confirm that the New Era B is a Bakersfield B, but for me that is plain to see.

Not a conspiracy? I would say at worst an act of contempt. The guy said that it’s most likely an accident. That may be, but there was someone on another site saying that his uncle requested a Bklyn hat from the LA Dodgers years ago. At first he was told to shoo, that the Dodgers don’t exist in Bklyn no mo, and then he got a Bakersfield hat in the mail after a successive request.

Maybe it’s not contempt or whatever, but it’s no doubt that it’s inaccurate as blazes. There may have been varieties of Brooklyn B’s, as I readily admitted, but none were like Bakersfield’s. Therefore, New Era should amend their process.

I’d be willing to bet that New Era licensed that particular logo from the Dodgers, and they’re stuck with it, pending an agreement to change from the Dodgers.

This topic may not garner much interest from the Long Island-Manhattan Mets fans, but for Brooklyn fans, this will matter. I’ve told Brooklyn fans wearing that hat about it, and they are astonished.

  3. I just want to add that if New Era knowingly sells something that is inaccurate, that’s when it crosses the line from being an ‘accident’ to being something else. Once they find out about it, it’s up to them to do right by Brooklyn.

    1. But, it is not “wrong”. There is no standardized, “correct” Dodgers “B” to use. To claim there is a “one and only” correct template to go by is inaccurate.
A simple google search will produce photos of an individual player wearing varying templates of a Brooklyn Dodgers “B”. http://bit.ly/i7iUbs
It should be noted that Americsn Needle, ’47 Brand and New Era (and likely many others) all use the template you insist is inaccurate. And, they can only do so with the strict approval of the Dodgers & MLB.

      1. You clearly didn’t read what I’ve written previously. I never claimed there was one and only one. It did evolve, but it was never the exact replica of the Bakersfield B which is being sold as a Brooklyn hat. Bakersfield is not now nor will it ever be Brooklyn.

What you claim about American Needle having the same Brooklyn Dodger logo as New Era’s is completely false. American Needle, with its various editions, is very close to the originals, and nothing like Bakersfield’s New Era.
