Tom Seaver’s Dogs

Yesterday I dropped in a line that I had been googling Tom Seaver’s dogs.   Well, look what Dan from 11th and Washington  NJ Baseball found:

They seem to have changed the website since I last looked into buying some of the wine, because I can’t find this one part about delivery that I remember seeing (I have a printout somewhere, but I don’t know where it is). But, from what I remember, if you ordered a case of wine (I think it had to be at least a case) within driving distance of the winery in California, Seaver himself would deliver it with one of the dogs. It had me considering renting a place for a week just to order some wine to be delivered.

The man in these photos seems nice.  He looks like a George.

  1. while pitching for the mets back in the day, seaver had a cat named ferguson jenkins and a poodle named slider!

next to the mets mascot homer, the most famous animal at shea stadium was the black cat that popped from under the stands in sept.1969 against the cubs and walked across the cubs dougout area.

i wonder if that cat was given a share and a world series ring.

    1. I think the black cat is a bit more famous than Homer. I think if you said “Homer the beagle” and, “Mets black cat”, more people would exhibit a faint knowledge of the cat. And, a lot of people would also recall the “Citi Field cat”

          1. hello former dirtdart.
            saw the video waaay cool.
i guess cats will always be a part of the mets.

there were times i would walk the cat walk (no pun intended) from the dougout to the tunnel at shea. all kinds of creatures abound.
i believe it was chipper jones of the braves found one, took it back to atlanta and named it shea.
