The blue Mets dugout last night and the blue of the past

I hope the Mets noticed one thing – everyone liked the blue jerseys.  Instead of half the fanbase being actually angry about the look, the blues were universally applauded.  Hopefully they will factor that sentiment into their future plans.

Terence snapped this one.   Mookie looks just right in blue.  I haven’t researched it but I suspect Mookie logged more games in a blue Mets jersey than anyone.

Steve D made a great observation that this was the first time the Mets wore blue at home.  It was always road, spring or BP back in the day.

For you youngsters out there, here’s the previous blues from my youth

Here’s a similar look without piping and Los

Note the white lettering on these from the 1982 yearbook

And I have no info whatsoever about what Neil Allen is wearing here!  That never appeared in a game.

  1. Shannon,

The white one from 1982 is some kind of instructional league uniform…the Neil Allen is an alternate road jersey that I must admit, I know little about except that I have seen pictures of it and a similar one that had no number in front. That may be a BP jersey, or quite possibly a speacial Mayor’s Trophy Game Jersey they used as a prototype.

Angry? Really??? Of all the dumb things to keep ranting about…

Focus less on the uni’s and more on they’re play. THAT should make you “angry”.

    1. Hi Tom – my blog is focused on the off-field stuff. There’s plenty of places to go for news or analysis. Around these parts, it’s all about the other stuff.
