FIRST TIME SINCE 1965: According to Elias Sports Bureau, the last time the Mets won consecutive games and overcame a two-run or greater deficit in the eighth inning or later in each contest was April 23-24, 1965 at San Francisco…The Mets trailed the Giants, 8-2, heading to the eighth on April 23, before scoring two in the eighth, four in the ninth and one in the 11th inning for an 9-8, 11-inning win…On April 24, the Giants scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to grab a 6-4 lead but the Mets responded with three runs in the ninth to win 7-6…New York trailed 8-4 heading to the eighth inning Monday night and was trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the eighth last night.

This team does have a certain charm…if they did not lose Davis, Reyes, Santana, Wright for long periods, I bet they could have been a contenda…I like the Colactus and hope Sandy can do something this offseason. The injuries do kill us quite often…we have a stadium naming curse, a bobblehead curse, maybe even a Ray Knight Curse (haven’t won since he left on bad terms).
