23 photos of Chase Field snaky home of the Diamondbacks

One day I woke up in Phoenix, and knowing sooner or later the Mets would travel to Chase Field I thought I’d snap me some pictures.

I was pre-disposed to hate the stadium.  I hate the Diamondbacks and think the name is terrible.  And it’s a snake.  I got it.  They hit you over the head with snake this snake that snake snake snake snake snake.  I get it.  Its a snake.  Got it.  Snake.  Got it.  Snake.

From the outside it looks like a big giant box structure.  There’s really no outside to take picture of…everyone enters through home plate.  Gate A and Gate E are about as far from each other as this sentence is long.  That makes for some annoying exiting.  The 1B side is a long a railroad track and you’d never ever ever see that side of the building unless you are a crazy blogger.

Anyways…it was surprisingly nice inside.  I hadn’t been in a dome before, and the roof is so high and the glass in the corner lets in enough ambient light that you kind of sort of feel outside.  You don’t feel inside anyway.

If you do move to Arizona and become a Diamondbacks fan I suggest you spend money on decent seats.  The upper deck is gigantic….like no joke you could be sitting in row 50…and there’s no short way to the deck.  The stairs start at the bottom and you might have to walk an hour to get to your seat.

The Diamonbacks also have 79 different uniform combinations (approximately) and 171 different logos.  The best one is the D made out of a snake (lest you forgot) on the reddish purple.  The weird fat A on the bluish purple is a mess.  There’s also a different logo and uni made out of two snake heads.  Did I mention they have a snake theme out there?

When I buy the Diamondbacks I am going to go the other way and rename the team the Frosties.  I will have a snowman mascot and will lower the temperature in the building to 45 degrees.

So here’s 23 random shots.  If you want nice crisp shots of a baseball game or the pool I’m confident they are on the internet….me, I’m more interested in the $4 beer sign.
