The short version is that teams regularly do this because you can always pull a guy back (unlike irrevocable waivers).
So as much as we like Wright, if the Phillies call and offer you Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay and their best 5 prospects well then maybe you think about playing Murphy at 3B next year.
