1986 Newspapers: Legend of Tom Terrific

Very cool article from the NY Post on the possibility of Tom Seaver, who was pitching for the Red Sox in late 1986, facing the Mets should both teams make it to the World Series.

As we know, Seaver was injured and unable to pitch during the Series.  While I would have loved to have seen my childhood hero get one last October moment, I think it would have killed me to see him go up against the Mets.

  1. Luckily he didn’t go to the Yankees…surprising that George spit the bit on that one.

According to The Bad Guys Won, Tom zinged former roommate Bud Harrelson (coaching 3rd base) in the bottom of the 10th in the World Series…told him “I’ll call you in the off-season” as if the game was over. When the Mets won game 7, Buddy told Tom “I’ll call YOU.”
