I have heard at least two stories about MLB rejecting requests for custom jerseys. Among the reasons given was:
Our customization department has advised us that due to licensing
agreements customers may not customize products with names or numbers of
retired players, players we do not have rights to, player’s nicknames,
players that have passed away, or players who have not finalized their
contract. Additionally when a customer is selecting their
customizations, they may not have “Mrs.” or “Mr.” before the name they
are requesting to have added. Also, profanity will not be permitted as a
customization.
Hmmm. So I can’t get “Mr. Met” or “Agee?”
I get that I can’t make WRIGHT 5 or profanity or SEAVER 41 but seems they’ve gotten stricter.
Anyone got any anecdotes?
