Did we know about Cousin Scott from the Mets?

Executives from Major League Soccer were joined by investors from the United Arab Emirates, the owners of the Manchester City Football Club, who were willing to build the stadium for a new American soccer team they hoped to buy. They were at odds with another group in the room: Jeff Wilpon and his cousin Scott, who represented the Mets and who were demanding more than $40 million from the Abu Dhabi investors as compensation for allowing soccer fans to park at nearby Citi Field.

Cousin Scott?  Did we know about Cousin Scott?

  1. We barely know anything about Fred and/or Jeff, never mind Cousin Scott. God only knows what he’s up to with the Mets. I can only imagine and it’s not pretty.

  2. Cousin Scott: We’ll call him Sonny. Just as Jeff Wilpon is known as Fredo. Sonny Corleone in THE GODFATHER infamously barged into a meeting of the Five Families when they discussed getting into a new and exciting business – the drug trade. As evidenced by media reports, Scott Wilpon was in on a meeting with representatives of the oil billionaires that want to build a soccer stadium in Flushing, but Scott and Jeff Wilpon tried to extort money from them for use of the city-owned [but leased to the Wilpons] Citi Field parking lots.
