Matt Harvey – some on twitter think he needs to lay low. I don’t.

I’ve always wanted to be in the spotlight,” Harvey tells The Post. “I’ve always wanted to be that guy — and that comes with fans approaching you and media being all over you and paparazzi. At the same time, everybody says how annoying it gets, but I understand it comes with the territory, and I’m not one to shy away from that. I don’t want to be the starting pitcher for the Mets that nobody knows. Being able to put on a uniform that says New York has been a dream come true.”

On twitter today @kranepool and I have been discussing Matt Harvey’s off-field activities.  Personally I don’t have any problem with it.  I don’t think he is running around saying “I’m the man now.”  If someone wanted to photograph you in a sports-car with a pretty woman (or man) and that made you more marketable…wouldn’t you say yes?

Should Harvey not endorse products when those offers roll in?  Should he say he wouldn’t want to start the ASG and become a national figure?

He’s living the dream.  If we’re going to bust his chops that 7 innings and three runs was somehow because he sat in a car with a nice looking lady then this fanbase needs help.

Great read in the Post.

  1. Harvey not only talks the talk, he walks the walk. He lives up to the expectations he and others have set for him. I say, let him enjoy it as times like these only come around once in a lifetime. He should talk to the guys who were on top and have to adjust to life beyond the spotlight. He’s got the makeup to handle it. He was raised with good values and a strong family. That says something these days.
