Looks like they are telling the truth. The Mets interactive seating chart shows exactly how many seats are available in each section. I count 409 seats remaining.
Most are $54 seats in left field sections 527-531. The rest are singles scattered around the park.
The Saturday night games really bug me. Saturday is the perfect day to take the kids to the game. Who wants to keep them up freakishly late to leave the park at 10 PM and get home by whenever? I don’t have kids myself, but night games on weekends only make sense from a TV standpoint (which I’ll admit could be a good financial reason).
