41 Amazin’ ideas for the Mets #35: in the seats announcers

Here’s what we’re doing. We are crowdsourcing 41 ideas for the Mets. The ideas can be big or small. Email me your idea at [email protected]. Today’s idea is from Marty.

Put people in the seats that are constantly walking around is to improve the audio video segments throughout the game.

I know the Mets have had the same PA announcer for decades and his voice is completely recognizable with all mets fans, but if you’ve ever been to Washington Nationals game its awesome!

Their audio video department and their PA announcer do an amazing job.

He gets the crowd revved up by being very excited and motivational.

I’m not saying the Mets need to turn their games into a WWE match but there needs to be more excitement in the stadium during the game to keep people from constantly just walking around. There’s already too much going on in the stadium to distract from the game so let’s make the game a little more exciting rather than boring standard MLB in game stuff. That’s all I have hope it helps

  1. The idea headline should actually read “better audio/video stuff to keep fans in the seats” because like I said good audio/video segments throughout the game would help keep people in their seats. It’s too quiet and generic during the game.

  2. Just an aside — Alex Anthony has been the PA Announcer for 11 seasons now. Before him, it was Roger Luce from 1999-2003. I much preferred Roger’s voice and I will always associate his voice to the Mike Piazza game of Sept. 21, 2001 and the 1999 and 2000 playoff runs.

  3. Yea as long as I can remember those two were the PA announcers and both were somewhat similar to each other and throughout the game announcing players at bats etc should still be Alex but announcing the starting lineups and fun things in between innings should be someone different who gets loud and excited ramping up the crowd. That would just make fans want to be in their seats more when someone like that draws them into the fun of it all.
