100 Random Cool Mets Things #6: The Polo Grounds

Welcome to 100 Random Cool Mets Things. In this series, we kill off the off-season by me randomly bringing something up.

The Polo Grounds.  It happened.  Almost none of us remember it, and there aren’t that many photos of the Mets there, but it happened.

Imagine being a Giants fan and your team leaving (all we talk about is the Dodgers leaving but it’s not like the Giants didn’t win ten pennants in New York and had won the WS in 1954 which isn’t all that much earlier than Brooklyn in 1955) – anyway imagine your team left, and five years later there is this new team that kind of has your cap on, but in a different color, and Willie Mays is back but he’s on the Giants which no longer play here.  Weird.  Would be like the Montreal Mets and Matt Harvey coming to visit the New York Burros who where green with the familiar NY.  Weird.

Anyways…to the Polo Grounds!
