Mets Morning Laziness: The Season Is Over, you are dismissed.

Before we begin – Holy cow there is an article How Two Huge Strikeouts Can Give Matt Harvey Hope.   Folks, that’s some desperate stuff there.  That’s “comparing Craig Swan and Ron Guidry” stuff.  And poor Matt thinks that start was “a huge step forward.”   Matt, you were in near constant trouble again.  The progress was you didn’t melt down and give up a bomb home run.  Wow.

SLACKISH REACTION:  The season is over.  You won’t believe me, but the record book will show that the 2019 Rebuild started on May 18, 2017.  It will start with Rosario, it will continue at the trade deadline, and it will evidence itself with lousy seasons.

Now, this is baseball, so the Mets will put together a little run.   They’ll get closer to .500, they might even win 10 straight and be over .500!  They might get to 5 or 6 back!  We can even chase the Wild Card!  But the season is over, and Generation K2 has failed.

Where we go from here….

Many of you are dismissed.  You can go home or back to the Bronx or wherever you were between 2010 and August 2015.

I’ll be here, I know which of you will be here, I’m pretty sure the t-shirt crowd actually is Loyal To The Last Out (but i will be watching)….but a lot of you are going to take the summer off, and I think that’s actually OK and here’s why.

When the Mets suck they come to us and ask us to buy $5 tickets.  But as soon as they get good, 15 game plans become 20, and all sorts of little price things happen to the fans.  So now that the wheels are coming off, you can let them know that you’d rather hit the beach.

There’s no need to start your Fake Wilpon Outrage nonsense.  I don’t want to hear about Sell The Team and billboards and nonsense, because you were all back in the stands come August 2015 and I didn’t hear a thing about the Wilpons all last year….so stop being fake on that.

It will be interesting to see if Big Comedians hang around.  You know, the kind that took 2010 until August 2015 off and then have suddenly dusted off the myth that they are The Biggest Mets Fans Ever.   Show up in August and I will believe you.

Anyway…..most of you casual fans are dismissed.  See you in a few years.  The rest of you diehards, this is when you have to show your colors.

….

Terry Collins says, “It’s very easy to unravel right now and I will not let that happen here.’’   Which one of us is going to tell him?

You’re going to hear a lot (way too much) about how Terry is about to tie then pass Davey Johnson for most games managed in Queens.   The timing on that is not ideal.

Enjoy the off-day.
