Difficult Questions: will the current Mets fanbase actually care about 1969

Whoa whoa calm down, I’m just asking a question.

Honestly, I’m not sure.

I’m almost 50 years old myself and the 69 team won when I was barely on the planet.  “My” Mets are from the late 70s and beyond.  For a lot of you, even 1986 is more of a concept than a memory.

I’m wondering if the fanbase is going to care.

There won’t be Tom Seaver this time.

Will the fanbase come out for the other 1969 Mets?

When the Mets inducted Davey, Cashen, Gooden and Strawberry into the HOF the place did not sell out.

No offense, but are people coming out for Art Shamsky and Ed Kranepool?  I really am not sure.  I am just being real.

Does that sell out the park?

I think it’s GREAT the Mets are doing something, and let’s face it, this is one last time for the 69 team – but I am not sure the current fans will care.

I’m not trying to be a jerk, an I’m not trying to stir it up.  This came up on twitter and I thought about it, and my inclination is NO.

I hope to be wrong.  The 1986 stuff tells me I am not.

What are your thoughts?
