Former Mets great Daniel Murphy is retiring

Wow, that scrappy guy helping out in the outfield is retiring.  He played at SHEA STADIUM as a Met!

SNY reports..

“This is a beautiful game, and I really just feel humbled and blessed that it let me jump on the ride for a little bit,” Murphy, 35, said in a telephone interview on Friday. “It’s beautiful. It can teach you about so many things. And all I can say is, thank you.”

They probably saw my tweet the other night where I observed Murph wasn’t on the Rockies’ 40.

Daniel Murphy finishes with 1572 hits.

It’s a shame the Mets, and most of the fan-base, never appreciated what they had in Murph, but as you all know, I was a big fan.

Good luck to you Daniel in your next endeavor, and maybe we’ll see you at some sort of Citi Field Event For Retired Players.
