I haven’t checked in on Gary’s PBP for a while. With Pete Alonso hitting a rare HR (his 12th!) let’s see how Gare is doing.

So here’s the problem Gary. I want to give this call a good grade because the ball is obviously gone off the bat. However the call has a fatal flaw. You said the ball is outta “here.” But the ball is on DC an you are in NYC.
So you’re forcing a catch phrase Gary. And you know who forces catch-phrases? No, not Vin Scully. John Sterling forces catch phrases. And thus there can only be on grade here.
VERDICT: Sterling
Gary – WHY do you force the coach phrase? Do you think it is beloved? Do you think Darren is going to make Outta Here T-Shirts – well that’s not happening since you obviously have an issue with him since you’re the only announcer who doesn’t acknowledged the T-Shirt Army to the point that you go SILENT when the telecast shows them. Are you planning on writing an Outta Here book some day? I don’t get it. You don’t need it and you definitely didn’t need to say it every time. Be better Gary. It’s a net negative to you game.
While we’re doing HR calls, here’s another from Gary Sterling.

Now I don’t know what’s wrong with Gary but since like 2019 I feel like he doesn’t see the ball well. And I get that he’s calling this off the monitor but you know what, I am watching it on twitter and I can see that this isn’t “toward the wall.”
Gary, how the heck is this “towards the wall” – look at this ON THE MONITOR LIKE I AM.
That’s a terrible call Gary. That’s an announcer on auto-pilot saying the words he always says. Be better.
