I really am kind of done with the Mets. There’s just sooooo many things not to like. I’m way past being upset about any of it, I’m at the apathy point.
Yeah, the uniforms suck (thanks Steve). Or how every single social media post seems to exist only to tag a sponsor. Or the owner’s adventures with the Securities & Exchange Commission, or that the marketing is built around a guy who went out of his way to disrespect the fans.
And then there’s Pete Alonso. My problem with Pete has been his immature tendency to add vulgarity to Let’s Go Mets.
When he broke the record the other night, you’d think he could be an adult. Nope. He tagged his speech with vulgarity? Why?? Pete, are you planning on launching a t-shirt line after you retired?
It’s all so disappointing.
Does your catch phrase help your marketability? You would think someone could do something with The Polar Bear stuff, but you’ve chosen to be Vulgar Pete with only third rate commercials. Maybe play to the middle, and who knows, maybe Coca Cola calls. But hey, you be you, the Mets can be the Mets. I have found life to be just fine barely paying attention to the Cohen Era brand.
