Mets make it clear to fans: Up Yours!

Well, at least they are no longer hiding it.  The Mets, who have built their marketing around Vulgar Pete and the guy who thumbs downed the customers are now blatantly telling us to Go Hose Ourselves, but probably in more Alonsic language.

That gesture—bending one arm so the fist tucks into the elbow of the other arm while raising the opposite hand—most often refers to the “Italian salute.”

In Italy it’s called the gesto dell’ombrello (“umbrella gesture”).
In France it’s the bras d’honneur (“arm of honor”).
In the U.S. people call it the “up yours” gesture.

It’s essentially a rude, defiant signal, usually meaning “screw you,” “up yours,” or “you can’t make me.” Think of it as the arm equivalent of giving someone the middle finger.

And this is the Mets brand, including these trash uniforms.
