Guest Post: blue Mets jersey comparison shopping

Terence has been frustrated with me that I didn’t have this up yet, so while I enjoy my Unnamed Donuts Chain….

So, I read your post from the 22nd about the M&N BP jersey in Blue:

and for $80, it is quite simply, the BEST Mets jersey purchase EVER!!

Let me explain…
I’ve compared it to the Majestic “Replica Cooperstown Alternate Jersey”
For $100 this jersey is very disappointing! some points:

1) Sizing isn’t true. You could try on 3 or 4 of the same size jersey and have different fits each time (which I’ve done)…

2) Even though it’s direct stitch lettering/numbering, it is NOT double layer twill, like it’s made to look like in the pics! It has a single white layer twill with a layer of Orange screen printing over it to give the illusion of double layer twill…

3) No front number…

4) Yogi, Ryan, Tug and Saberhagen never even wore this “style” of jersey!

or this?:

OK, well maybe I’m nitpicking with that last one, but C’MON?!?! 100 Bucks for that jersey is a rip off, when for 20% less you can get an almost identical to the Era Mesh BP jersey, with a period specific player who actually wore that style that’s got a true fit and looks amazing!

I’ve attached some pics of the detailed awesomeness of the jersey for all to drool over…

P.S. Did I mention that the only Black on the M&N jersey is a thin border on the jock tag? That’s it!!! OK, nit completely picked. As you were…

  1. I’m thoroughly enjoying mine too. I got a Straw and am getting a Keith H. One thing, I wear S in Majestic jerseys (M if I want a little room to wear with shorts). The M&N M(40) is pretty snug and I’d consider sizing up to your usual Majestic sizing.

One sour point, today I went to the Mets Clubhouse to pick up #17 and they hadn’t received them (I didn’t see any M&N for that matter.)
