I know, I know you’re thinking, “Shannon is right, like always. Â I really should show up for the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday.”
Well, I’m here to help you – and make it as inexpensive a trip as I can.
TRAVEL:
You probably know about the 7-train. Â $2.25 per ride, so that’s gonna cost you $4.50
If you choose to drive, I suggest you check out the Mets Police Guide To Being Cheap About Parking – park in Corona like I will. Â “Free” except of course gas and tolls.
TICKETS:
Well, since the Mets have ridiculous fees…RIDICULOUS FEES…a $23 ticket (still available at 2:00 on Saturday) will cost you $34. Â That’s a little pricey. Â You could click on the nice giant Stubhub at on my site where on Saturday you could get in for $28 including fees. Â That won’t help my goal of selling the place out, but this article is about helping you come see the game. Â (Yes I get a commission if you click that ad and then buy.)
FOOD/DRINK:
Throw a sandwich in a bag. Â Â Guests may bring in one, soft, plastic, factory-sealed water bottle of 20 ounces or less. Â Grab a $5 footlong and such a place that sells them and a bottle of water for a buck from
BEER:
You don’t need a beer. Â You will live.
MERCHANDISE:
You don’t need any merchandise. Â The Mets will give you a cap if you’re one of the first 25,000 folks or so.
COSTS:
Assuming you get a ticket from the Mets ($34, again fees are RIDICULOUS), take the subway ($4.50) and get a footlong ($5) you’re looking at a $44 day. Â Not nothing, but it’s a nice time at the ballpark.
Showing up and buying your ticket at the stadium may save some fees. Â Maybe you don’t need a sandwich. Â Maybe you live in Queens and can drive and just use one $3 gallon of gas.
See you there?
