I gotta admit I was starting to believe the perfecto was going to happen or I wouldn’t have taken this picture. I also texted home to get Junior in front of a TV (a message I learned this morning was never delivered by Mommy.)
There were hints of 1985 Gooden in the crowd. That’s no small praise from me. Harvey isn’t Frank Viola or R.A. Dickey throwing a good one. He just looked Better last night.
At times when I watched that big powerful delivery I even thought of – dare I say it – no I don’t dare, but he was on the 1983 Mets.
It’s hard to truly be 1983 Gooden in a stadium filled with “23,000” people in the park (most must have never gotten off the Shake Shack line). The place was empty man.
I have no become accustomed to having my own personal row. And it’s not like I have bad seats. But I always have the row to myself. Last night there was a lone interloper who dates sit 5 seats away from me!
Jokes aside, if that’s the best they can do on a warm night with Harvey on the mound then the Mets really have chased off the fanbase.
The scoreboard stupidity (and its social media cousin) seems to have stopped. There weren’t any silly nicknames to be seen – and the Mets are now posting tweets from fans on the board between innings. I’ve seen that done in other parks and I think it works really well.

As you look out the window and see rain please remember the White Sox never come back to Queens. They will play.
White Sox are not a draw nor are 9 games v Miami and with many traditional NL rivals only in for 3 games some compromised by weather and limiting people to a choice of a couple days only to see a desirable team (cards,SF,LA,Chic.,Pitt)etc..on dates perhaps not amenable to the fan base for other conflicts etc plus the Mets do nothing policy (again playing close to even ball/what if they actually had a OF or bench or better 5th starter or pen?)plus endless spurious NBA/NHL playoffs with local papers and media which over hype these games not to mention NFL without rebutall by MLB media relations types…baseball and Mets lose mindshare and low attendence is the reult of the cumulative affect of a mismanaged team in a mismanged league!
The saddest part of watching Matt toy with perfection was the realization that, like the great men before him (Seaver, Cone, Johan, etc.), he’s a great pitcher with zero run support, game in and game out. THAT has got to be fixed and quickly before he screams “Get me OUT of here; I can’t take it anymore.” The Yankee fans that surround me keep hinting Matt’s gonna end up in pinstripes and I can’t take that thought without the urge to vomit.
I was there also last night. I did not sit in my usual seats in section515. My company I work for had the CF Apple Section. I sat in 142 row 4. Right next to the WhiteSox bullpen. There relieft pitchers and coaches where all amazed by the way Harvey was dealing.You should hace seen their reaction.
Not a bad view from CF. The atmosphere from the crowd I was in NO WAY matches the vivacious crowd of the 7Line crowd.
Will be back in 515 tonight weather permitting.

Would have attended last nights game if I weren’t going today. I’ve been lucky to catch a few Harvey starts in his short career already, including his first at Citi. His outing against Strasburg was a gem, that was fun.. crowd got into it as well.. Doc was one of my favorite Mets growing up & I thought of Doc, as he came up, last night.
