‘Last Play at Shea’ screening at Citi Field

Got this via email.

(FYI there is a pre-sale, however my personal rule is that I don’t post passwords since they are designed to reward those who are issued the password.   Regardless, this event is happening and I bet you’ll be able to get tickets when the general sale happens.)

On Saturday night, August 21 at 8:00 p.m., the New York Mets and Billy Joel will host the movie premiere of the critically acclaimed “The Last Play at Shea”, marking the biggest outdoor movie presentation since 1919.

You own this Mets Swoosh jersey and I’m depressed

I think I’m done with this Hall of Fame topic.

Stay home Sunday.  Let’s never have Banner Day or Old Timer’s Day again.

Let’s just slap on our black jerseys, crank up the noise patrol and shoot t-shirts off into the crowd that calls themselves Mets fans in the 21st Century.

Let’s all stay home. That will teach the Wilpons. They’ll be selling to the Dolans before you know it and then we’ll all be happy.

Ya don’t gotta believe.  A team can’t close 6 games in two months.  It has never been done.

Why should we support the franchise the one time they throw us a bone?

You guys are right.  Let’s pick this Sunday to prove our point about Gold tickets and ticket fees and our frustration at the lack of winning.  Let’s take it out on the last group that won.  Nobody has any disposable income anyway.  Nobody pays $13 for HBO or has a $100 cellphone bill or a $200 pair of sneakers.

I have no idea what I’ll write about next week since nobody cares about 1986 or team history.  No reason to post pictures or recap the event.

There will be no reason to poke at Dave Howard because in the end Dave Howard is right. Nobody cares about team history.

There will be 36,000 or so of us at Citi Field on Sunday.  The last of the Mets fans.  Some day the Mets will make the playoffs again and 9,000 front-runners will join us.   I will know how to recognize you – you’ll be the ones in the brand new jerseys with the patch that outs you that you just decided being a Mets fan is cool again.    I lived through that in 1986 and if you had a jacket with the 25th anniversary patch I knew you were a fraud.

Being a Mets fan was never cool.  In many ways that’s what it’s been about.  You wanna be cool?  Walk around the Bronx in a Chamberlain t-shirt.

I guess I’ll stick to caps and jerseys and just turn this into a poor man’s Mets Uni Watch.

Nevin owns this Swoosh Jersey. The Mets wore these in the past. Who cares. Unless the Mets are in first place and you have free tickets you aren’t going anyway, right?

Sell out this game.   Clap clap clap.  Clap clap clap…..

Mets Teammates in the Community

Late last week the Mets sent this out as part of the Flushing Flash.  Nice stuff.

The Mets and Citi have a shared commitment to community service and place a high priority on helping people in our hometown. Together – along with Mets fans — we support programs and individuals who devote their time and energy to bettering the lives of their fellow New Yorkers.

In addition to the second year of our season-long “Citi Field Kids” program and our inaugural “Teammates in the Community Week” at the end of June, we created the “Teammates in the Community Award” to recognize each month during the season volunteers who have demonstrated extraordinary service to our city. So far this season, members of the Mets Alumni Association Presented by Citi have presented six awards to deserving men and women. We would like to share some of their stories with you:

The first recipient of the Teammates Award was Lieutenant Colonel Tom Endres, a volunteer with the Wounded Warrior Project. Tom graduated fromWest Point and former helicopter pilot in the 101st airborne division, fourth infantry division and second infantry division in Somalia. He returned to West Point as Director of Cadet Activities in 1998 and served as a coach at the academy. As a result of his volunteer work with Wounded Warriors, Tom has assisted countless soldiers in finding employment and adjusting to the transition back to civilian life.

Caller to WFAN about lack of Mets sell out on Sunday

I’m thinking about suggesting to Fred that he rename the Champions Club back to Ebbets Club since nobody can be bothered to show up on Sunday to honor Doc and Darryl, Davey and Cashen.  At least people care about the Brooklyn Dodgers.

People are starting to call WFAN about this one..and it sounds like Evan may be a Mets Police reader: Audio of call about Sunday

I think we’re twitter buds at least. (@metspolice)

Still waiting for the mainstream media and other blogs to help move the needle on this one.  Sell this game out folks or Dave Howard wins.

Been a busy day here on MP – some stuff has already gotten knocked off the main-page…here’s a quick recap: a Sidd Finch jersey, the upcoming promotional dates (with pics of the umbrella, t-shirt and cap), 45% of vendors had citations, and Dwight Gooden has been found.
