Mets New Fence Diagram Pic

This pic is from Adam Rubin. He is killing it today. You can follow him at @AdamRubinespnESPN

New walls are blue, but old walls stay old dark black-ish (soot) color.

If that is the case are the walls going to be black and blue then? Four “old walls” there. The diagram seems like it keeps some of the quirkiness of the park.

Mets Fence Update

This is coming in from Adam Rubin’s tweets:

Mets making outfield walls blue.Citi Field dimensions (l to r): 335-358-385-408-398-375-330. 100 new seats in left-center between old and new walls. 40-50 new seats where Mo’s Zone was. Two new rows of seats in left-center.Fence is a uniform eight feet. Playing surface over is 2 percent less. Playing surface beyond 300 feet is 5 percent less. In extreme left field corner, the old 16-foot wall will be in play with line at 8 feet. Mets say unconcerned about umpires determining HR.

Mets would have hit about 81 more homers over three years with these dimensions. Opponents 70. According to Sandy Alderson.

I think I might have to keep updating this post throughout the day. This Just in from Adam Rubin.

I still think it is a mistake to bring the fences in but what do I know. The blue walls if they are “Shea Blue” might look out of place at Citi Field. Oh well, at least it is some Mets news today. I think Shannon might be busy today at work, so I expect a flood of news because of that.

Mets Ticket Office Calling for Deposits

I received a phone call from my ticket rep the other day telling me the Mets were accepting deposits for their partial season plans for next season. I really enjoy where my seats are and even though I complain that it ends up being a Sunday plus plan and not just all Sundays, I put my deposit down. He told me that the plan info will be released near the end of November. He also said that when that info is released I will have the option of keeping or moving my seats. I am pretty sure I will be keeping my seats though.

Mets Hire New Bench Coach

The Mets hired Bob Geren as Terry Collins’ bench coach. Strangely, I have no feelings about this yet.

“After interviewing several potential candidates, including former Nationals manager Jim Riggleman, the Mets have settled on former A’s manager Bob Geren as their new bench coach, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com.”
