Ugly Mets Jacket

What is Opening Day without some ugly Mets gear. I was in Modell’s today and I was going past the Mets merchandise when I saw this.

It looks like someone just slapped a Mets logo on a penguin.

Told you guys I am trying to channel my inner Shannon. I am going to be working again tonight so if you guys can keep checking in with me via twitter and emails about the game tonight. Twitter: @mediagoon Email [email protected]. Thanks guys

Your Opening Day Traditions

Sparks who comments on Mets Police posts regularly, has his own blog. He talks about his Opening Day tradition and how the Mets first game being on a Friday night is messing it up.

Go check him out his post abut this over at THIRD COAST METS FAN.

Now after you do that come back here  and tell us if you have any traditions for Opening Day.Also, if having the first Mets game on a Friday night throwing a wrench in them.

The Ghost of Shea Returns

Shea Stadium popped up again. For a Stadium that had seen its last days in 2008 it is still hanging around. This was sent to Shannon the other day.

Hey Shannon.  Happy (day before) opening day.

Another season is barely upon us and Shea has already made an appearance as you will see in the attached photo grab from si.com.

Regards,

Alex

Thanks Alex for the email.

Since Shannon is away on business you can reach me at [email protected] and I am also on twitter @mediagoon.

Pelfrey Was Injured Most of Last Season

This might explain the slight swoon Big Pelf had during the season. But it seems he did “MAN UP AND PLAY BETTER” and also played through the injury.

“I had a strained rotator cuff and a strained posterior capsule almost the whole season,” Pelfrey told the Daily News Thursday, a day before making his first Opening Day start Friday night against Florida. The 27-year-old righty is ready to be the Mets’ ace, a leadership role that he relished even as the No. 2 guy last year, when he decided to pitch through pain.

Pelfrey thinks he injured himself when he got the save in the 20 inning game on April 17th. Man, that was so long ago I forgot that he even did that.

Pelfrey insisted to Jerry Manuel and Warthen that he could pitch. Did he begrudge either of them for granting his request?

“Absolutely not, because Jerry and Dan both told me at the time not to, and I kept saying I could go,” he said. “I really think that coming in relief probably was what caused it in the first place. Looking back now, I don’t know if I would ever come in in relief again, unless it’s my job”

I agree with you Big Pelf. I think last year was the season you showed your mettle, but don’t do that again unless its for a must win in Game 7 of the World Series.
