Mike Pelfrey at Citi Field (Video)

Hello there fellow Mets fans. Shannon is always complaining that I need to step my game up with our “media” content for Mets Police (even though I give him stuff he sits on). In response to that, I spent my whole day editing videos that I shot from the Citi Kids at Citi Field event.

I already posted video of Jose Reyes answering questions from our fellow bloggers.

So here is Mike Pelfrey answering the bloggers questions.  This part 1.  I tried my best with the audio guys.

Reyes Meets with Mets Bloggers

During the Citi Kids at Citi Field event today, us bloggers had the chance to interview the Mets players that were on hand. I was able to catch video some of their answers to some really good questions. No, I didn’t ask any questions myself. Shannon is right. I am better with the camera then he is but he is better with the questions.

I tried my best with the sound quality. I know it isn’t the best.

Quick Update: I am also working on other interviews from today to post over the next few days.

Citi Kids at Citi Field

Today the Mets and Citi launched the thrid annual Citi Field Kids with a behind the scenes tour led by Mets players. Twenty-five kids from the Sunnyside Community Services after school sports program.

The kids got to get signed baseballs, ask questions, and meet the players.

The players that gave the kids the tour were R.A. Dickey, Jose Reyes, Josh Thole, Bobby Parnell, Mike Pelfrey, Dillon Gee, and manager Terry Collins. The kids seemed to have a lot of fun and were really excited to be there.

Citi Field kids provides NYC students with a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience, combining baseball and education before six baseball games each season. It is conducted with the cooperation of the Mets, Citi, The Jackie Robinson Foundation, and The Neighborhood Houses Of NY.

More pics after the jump.

This just came in from the Mets.

FLUSHING, N.Y., January 17, 2011 – The New York Mets today announced that they have signed outfielder Willie Harris, who has hit 30 home runs over the last three seasons, to a minor league contract with an invitation to major league Spring Training.

Condolences to Dallas Green and Family

Media Goon:  I woke up to some really crappy news this morning  and it really gets me down. The shooting that was all over the news yesterday in Arizona of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and 19 others included a nine year old girl.

The little girl that was shot and killed was former Mets manager Dallas Green’s granddaughter. Her father John Green is  a scout for the LA Dodgers. Our thoughts are with the Green family and all the other victims from this senseless shooting.

UPDATE 10:05am   Shannon here.

Before all the talking heads argue back and forth over politics let’s take a second to think about this senseless act of violence and a especially a young life snuffed out.

I’m posting this picture not to be sensational but because of the emotional impact.  I’m also making this post “stuck” to the top of the blog for the day.  New items will roll out below.

The brown-eyed athletic girl had one sibling, an 11-year-old brother named Dallas, and the two loved to go swimming together.

She’d already told her parents she wanted to attend Penn State one day and have a career that involved helping those less fortunate than her.

She also loved animals and was a passionate dancer who loved ballet, hip-hop, jazz and gymnastics and was the only girl on her Canyon del Oro Little League baseball team, “The Pirates.” She played second base.

Much more in the Arizona Daily Star.

Take the political discussions elsewhere.
