Got a Mets blog?

As Memorial Day approaches I’ll be doing my usual “cool blogs I dig” post.

Some of the blogs I liked are now gone, and there are some great new ones like The Apple that I wish to include.

If you’re on twitter regularly, I hope to include a list of cool people to follow.  To aid my laziness, include a one sentence description.

Mets over the hump?

I’m posting this in the 8th inning because I want to go to bed – so if the Mets blow this 3-2 lead I am the jinx.  I think Walt may be on to something…

I have stumbled onto a possible pattern to help us not to lose faith.

The Mets played 23 games in April. April’s baseball hump day occurred on April 18, the 12th game played that month. The Mets lost to St. Louis 5-3. At that point the Mets record was. At that point the record for April was 4-8. Over the remaining “post hump” games, the Mets went 10-1.

Sundays loss to the Marlins was the Mets May “hump game”, game 15 of the 29 scheduled for the month.

Dare we dream? You gotta believe?

Hell, why not.

LET’S GO METS

Impossible Poll: Polo grounds slightly more popular than Mercury

This morning I swapped out the impossible poll (if you’re reading this via email or google reader you’ll need to visit the main page metspolice.com) to let you decide if the Mets are done/fine/in big trouble.

Closing out the previous poll – Shea Stadium was by far the most popular home of the Mets with 84% of the vote.   Citi Field was second with 21% (a championship will fix that) and the Polo Grounds (13%) barely edged out Mercury (12%)

For those of you not in the know, the Mets have announced they will be moving to Mercury no later than the 2021 season, and have already announced the design for the black uniforms.

Hey, THAT explains everything.  The Mets wear black to gradually introduce their new color scheme.  Like how the Marlins stopped wearing “Florida” this season in anticipation of becoming the “Miami Marlins” next year (or is that the Miami Los Marlins).

In all seriousness, if you are relatively new to the site, the Mercury Mets recap is one of my favorite pieces, I think you’ll enjoy.  I’m looking to the Mercury Series against the cross-planet Mercury Fire.  Go read.
