With that other milestone out of the way, the time has come to focus on fan favorite Daniel Murphy’s quest for 300 hits.
Dan enters tonight’s game with 267 hits, just 33 shy of the 300 mark.
Only 62 Mets have ever gotten to 300 hits.
Murph is tied for 68th on the all-time list with Mackey Sasser and with 3 hits tonight could tie Ty Wigginton for 67th.

I gotta say, this Terry Collins fellow is doing a good job. Sure there are things we can nitpick (and shockingly I’m not going to), but I can’t help wondering what he’d do with Ike, Wright and even a 50% Santana.
Meanwhile between Sanday and Terry, we haven’t seen any of the clownfest type behavior that surrounded the team in the recent years. Sure the owner still doesn’t know how to do a magazine interview, and Prevention and Recovery hasn’t taken hold – but all in all this is a fun season and Colactus has them playing well.
