2010 AL Champion Yankees pennants

Gonna make you click the link (hey, I gotta promote my new Sports Police site) so you can see these discarded 2010 American League champion banners.

I’m sending you to the main page, it’s the second story down, may be the thrid or fourth if you are reading this late in the day.

Meanwhile over here it looks like we’ll sail past 1.9 million page views* since I switched over to the “new” site in February….thanks to all who read/support/link/send stuff in.

*:  like many bloggers I have three stat trackers, two of which have MP in that range the other less.   I keep reading up on this and who knows what to believe but again if I don’t sell my own story who will.

Unnamed Donuts Chains are encouraged to expose their products to 2,000,000 page views if they’d like.

Maybe I’m kidding myself, hey let a boy dream.  At the end of the year I’ll be able to compare the conservative number to last year’s conservative number.

Would Alderson Move The Fences In?

If he becomes the Mets GM, would Sandy Alderson move the fences in at CitiField?

This is pure speculation on my part, but on Sunday Adam Rubin reprinted portions of a June 2008 interview conducted with Alderson by a Padres blog Ducksnorts.  Honor among bloggers dictates that I direct you to the full article which you can find here (and I highly recommend you check out)

In the interview, Alderson states a clear preference for home runs and for the Earl Weaver philosophy (of believing in the 3-run home run) as opposed to small ball.

CitiField is built for small ball, not for the long ball.  If the Wilpons (and Saul Katz) hire Alderson they are going to give him free reign (you don’t hire someone of Alderson’s stature without giving him that).  Would that include altering the configuration of the ballpark?

Suckered into NLCS Game 3 on SNY now

I usually don’t watch Mets classics but I accidentally selected SNY instead of ESPN and I am totally suckered into 1986 NLCS Game 3.

Some observations, many of which I have made before…

Strawberry needs steroids and he’ll hit 800 homers.

Kevin Mitchell looked HUGE in 1986…he’s another guy now.  Might even be small on the 2011 Mets.

Keith Jackson calls a nice game, and this young Tim McCarver seems nice.

Funny to hear “Santana” – I now think of someone else.

Keith says “Ag-will-air-uh” as opposed to “Ag-you-lare-uh”

Then the commercial break came on and they showed the currrent Mets logo without the NY.  Put the darn NY back will ya.  Nobody in Oregon roots for the Mets and the people in NJ and CT are OK with it.

I hate the Astros.
