Greg from the great Faith and Fear sent this over…
I wonder what happened to him and why he didn’t attend games at Shea.
Next season is the 50th…good time to go retro.
What Mets fans talk about when not talking about the actual games.

Good morning Mets fans.
I don’t feel like writing “Mets officially eliminated” or “Torre insults Jerry, apologizes, isn’t coming.” Others will do that better.
I also dont feel like writing “no Torre, gotta get Wally/Bobby in here.” Been there, done that.
We could freak out about Kevin Towers. Nah. Let’s go somewhere else.
You are the new manager or GM of the Mets.
You weren’t in the clubhouse the day K-Rod punched the other man (is it girlfriends father, father in law?) Anyway you weren’t there.
You need a closer. He has a contract that maybe no other team wants, so trade value is not premium.
Perhaps you are Wally Backman and have gone some through some things yourself.
Can you welcome K-Rod to the 2011 Mets?
I’m as knee-jerky emotional as any other Mets fan and I think you can. New GM X and Wally Backman can welcome him back.
A spring quote from Wally along the lines of “I think all of us have things in our past we are not proud of, but hopefully Frankie can go out there today and pitch a 1-2-3.” The media (and fat bloggers) all comment for a day, life goes on.
If K-Rod gets people out he’ll be forgiven by the fans.
Now Ollie…he got booed Opening Day 2010. He could no-hit the spring and will still get booed the first time he throws ball one.
Just a thought on a boring morning of an endless season that went from 2 out to 6 weeks of tedium in the blink of an eye.
I think for me this yearbook sums up why I am not at all attached to the 2000 Mets. John Franco in a black jersey with his hat turned backwards. An entire cover of black uniforms. I don’t expect many people to agree with my feelings.
Incredibly the Mets went to the World Series and didn’t raise the price of the yearbook.

Hmmm, I did not realize this…
The Mets’ official mascot was Homer the Beagle, and he lived at the Waldorf-Astoria on Park Avenue. Oh, what a wonderful time that was to be young and single and a beagle living in Gotham! And if you happened to be a big league mascot on top of that, well, then the world was indeed your Gaines-Burger.
Homer was trained by Rudd Weather-wax, the man who taught Lassie everything she knew. Alas, the Weatherwaxian magic didn’t always work on Homer, and the beagle never quite got the hang of circling the bases at the Polo Grounds.
