The 1995 New York Mets Yearbook Cover

Wow those Expos have some good young team.  They might have won it all last year if not for the strike.

Well, I bet the Mets have some exciting players to market for 1995.  It’s time get the fanbase engaged….oh it’s bats.

Good news: they finished second!

Bad news: they were under .500 and 21 back.

Don’t worry this Braves team is a fluke….we’ll get ’em next year!

Cool stuff on Baseball Digest

Damn I suck.  All day I tried to get this post right….but there are some similar named things in the universe and my small brain gets confused.

Baseball Digest had on Ken Burns and Matt Cerrone from MetsBlog today.

Here’s the correct website I wanted to send you to: http://www.baseballdigest.com/

Here’s the link to Ken Burns: http://www.baseballdigest.com/2010/09/14/7513/

Here’s where you can hear Burns and Cerrone.

Check out Mark’s site.  Good stuff.   Some notes from Mark this morning…

Just wanted to share the link and info for Wednesday’s “Baseball Digest LIVE” on which I’ll talk to award-winning filmamker Ken Burns about his newest addition to “BASEBALL”; The Tenth Inning. It’s something I am especially proud of and hope you’ll listen. I’ll also hope you’ll share the link with your readers, friends and others via Facebook or Twitter.

Here’s the link to the story on BD

Also for you Mets fans, I have been having a Twitter discussion with Metsblog.com’s Matt Cerrone about how the Mets should be going about restarting the franchise. Foe those of you who have read my work over the years, you have a pretty good idea of where I stand.

In case you missed my latest (and for context) – Real Change Happens at the Top.

Matt will be on Wednesday’s show as well.

Mets to Host Hispanic Heritage Night

The New York Mets today announced they will host Hispanic Heritage Night Presented by Goya this Friday, September 17 when the Mets play the Atlanta Braves at 7:10 p.m. at Citi Field.

Goya is going to donate 20,000 pounds of food to City Harvest. If the one thing the Mets as an organization gets right is their charity work.

There will be a mariachi band to greet fans at the Jackie Robinson Rotunda.

K-Company from the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club will entertain fans with a pre-game dance performance.

Also, Bocatabu, a Latino pop-rock group, will also play pre-game in celebration of Hispanic culture.

Mets players will also wear “Los Mets” jerseys. I can see Shannon right now gritting his teeth in anger over the “Los” Mets. I think he might hate them more then he hates the black jerseys. Would be cool to see his head explode if they wear black Los Mets jerseys though.

Also on hand will be, Tony Unanue from Goya Foods will throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and Telemundo’s Veronica Contreras will make public address announcements in Spanish throughout the game.
