If Matt Harvey did this: Mets’ Luis Guillorme goofs off pranking customers instead of working out and watching game films

What’s the point of this video?  Luis annoys customers who just want to shop in peace?

To demonstrate nobody wants to buy Mets stuff?

To prove that MLB has no stars and their players aren’t recognizable?

This isn’t even funny.   Hopefully there was a “you may be filmed’ sign at the doorway.

Oh and is that a 48 jersey he’s trying to get rid of?

How about we work out and watch some game films guys?  That’s what Matt Harvey would be doing!

The AI complains about Mets black uniforms in the style of Mets Police

by the AI

As a die-hard Mets fan, it pains me to see the team wearing those awful black uniforms. It’s like they’re trying to be some sort of trendy, hipster baseball team, but it just doesn’t work. The black uniforms make the team look dull and uninspired, like they’re not even trying.

Enough is enough, it’s time for the Mets to ditch the black and go back to their traditional colors. Blue and orange are the colors of the Mets, and they represent the team’s history and tradition. They’re the colors that have been worn by countless great players over the years, from Tom Seaver to David Wright.

I don’t know who thought it was a good idea to introduce the black uniforms in the first place, but they were clearly out of touch with what makes the Mets great. The black uniforms have been a disaster, and it’s time for the team to go back to their roots.

The Mets are a team with a rich history, and they should be proud to wear the colors that represent that history. The black uniforms are a cheap imitation, and they do nothing to enhance the team’s image. They’re a distraction, and they need to be scrapped.

It’s time for the Mets to return to their traditional colors, and to start playing baseball the way it was meant to be played. It’s time to get rid of the black uniforms, and to get back to the blue and orange that have been the colors of the Mets for over 50 years. It’s time to return to the colors that truly represent the team and its rich history.

The AI writes a preview of the 2023 Mets! Mike Trout! Todd Frazier!

To be fair, the crap over at the Amazin’ Apple Insiderized Mets Blog Report is slightly better than this, but only because the AI doesn’t have command of the roster.  That said, imagine this piece with the correct player names in here and it’s pretty much what those guys hand in.

First the AI version…

Mike Trout, #23 on his back, #1 in your hearts

As the New York Mets head into the 2023 season, fans are filled with excitement and anticipation. After a strong showing in the 2022 season, the team looks poised to make a run at the World Series.

One of the biggest reasons for the optimism surrounding the Mets is their deep and talented roster. The team’s offense is anchored by superstar outfielder Mike Trout, who is coming off of yet another MVP-caliber season. Trout is joined by a formidable group of hitters, including catcher J.T. Realmuto, first baseman Pete Alonso, and third baseman Todd Frazier.

On the pitching side, the Mets are led by a formidable starting rotation. Ace Jacob deGrom will be looking to build on his impressive 2022 campaign, in which he won his third consecutive Cy Young Award. He’ll be joined by Noah Syndergaard, Marcus Stroman, and newcomer Taijuan Walker, who the team signed in the off-season.

The Mets also made some key additions to their bullpen, bringing in closer Liam Hendriks and setup man Brad Hand. This should help solidify a unit that was a weakness for the team in recent seasons.

Overall, the Mets are shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with in the National League. With a strong mix of young talent and veteran leadership, the team looks poised to make a deep playoff run in 2023. Whether they can finally bring a World Series title back to Queens remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Mets fans are in for an exciting season.

Sounds like a pretty good team!  Thanks AI!  The Amazin’ Apple Insiderized Mets Blog Report will be sending you an offer shortly.

And now, let me clean it up.  Tell me this isn’t what the Amazin’ Apple Insiderized Mets Blog Report doesn’t actually publish on a daily basis.

Ghost Fork T-Shirts Available after the game. Mets sign Kodai Senga!

Good News Everyone!  ESPN is reporting

Right-hander Kodai Senga and the New York Mets agreed on a five-year, $75 million contract Saturday night,…Senga, 29, starred over 11 seasons with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of Nippon Professional Baseball, going 104-51 with a 2.42 ERA in 1,340⅔ innings over 275 starts. He’s armed with a fastball that has reached triple digits and a split-fingered fastball nicknamed “the Ghost Fork” for how it disappears before reaching the plate. (via ESPN)

My favorite part of this is Steve Cohen’s IDGAHoot attitude on the tax.

Currently, the Mets’ competitive-balance-tax payroll — calculated by adding the average annual value of all their deals — is estimated to be around $345 million. If that holds, the Mets would be levied a never-before-seen luxury-tax penalty: $6 million for money spent from $233 million to $253 million; $8.4 million for $253 million to $273 million; $15 million for $273 million to $293 million; and $46.8 million for above $293 million — a 90% tax rate. All told, the Mets are facing a $76.2 million CBT bill — and a total payroll in excess of $421 million.(via ESPN)

One thing that sometimes will get me to watch baseball is an interesting starting pitcher.  (The Opener should be banned for this reason, as I am not alone in this).  Maybe I will have to tune in and watch some innings this summer.  Fun!

I did receive a text this morning from Media Goon asking me to pick him up at “Japanese Modell’s” which I didn’t know was a thing, and I didn’t know what he was talking about, but now it all makes sense.

As exciting as all this is, remember that MLB broke the sport with too many playoff teams -the Mets could win 101 games and not get out of the NL quarter-finals.  So, why watch?

Mets re-sign Brandon Nimmo to 8 year deal

METS RE-SIGN OF BRANDON NIMMO TO EIGHT-YEAR DEAL

FLUSHING, N.Y., December 10, 2022 – The New York Mets announced today that the club has re-signed outfielder Brandon Nimmo to an eight-year contract. The deal runs through the 2030 season.

“Brandon has been part of the Mets family since he was drafted over 10 years ago and we are so excited that he and his wife Chelsea decided to remain part of the team,” Mets Owner, Chairman and CEO Steve Cohen said. “Throughout his career, Brandon has contributed so much to the Club both on and off the field. His hustle and personality are a part of what makes this team so special.”

Nimmo, 29, set career-high marks in several offensive categories in 2022, including games played (151) runs (102), hits (159), RBI (64) and doubles (30). He tied for the National League lead with seven triples and ranked among NL in runs scored (fourth), on base percentage (.367, fifth) and walks (12th, 72).

“We are thrilled to be able to keep Brandon in the organization,” said Mets General Manager Billy Eppler. “He has grown into a leader in our clubhouse and embodies what we look for in a player on and off the field. We’re excited to have the impact he brings on both sides of the ball back on our roster.”

Nimmo ranks third in Mets history with a lifetime .385 on-base percentage. Over the last five seasons, he has the sixth-highest OBP (.388) in the majors, behind Mike Trout (.424), Juan Soto (.424), Freddie Freeman (.400), Bryce Harper (.393) and Aaron Judge (.392). In the same time period, Nimmo owns the National League’s sixth-highest walk rate (13.7 percent).

Nimmo totaled 5.1 bWAR in 2022, good for the fourth-most by a center fielder last season behind Trout (6.3) and 2022 Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award winners Julio Rodríguez (6.2) and Michael Harris II (5.3). He and Rodríguez were the only two center fielders in the majors to rank in the 90th percentile in outs above average and record a wRC+ of 130 or better.

The Cheyenne, Wyoming native has spent seven years with the Mets, posting a .269/.385/.441 slashline with 335 runs, 106 doubles, 23 triples, 63 home runs, 213 RBI, 23 steals, 323 walks with an .827 OPS and a 130 OPS+. He was selected by the Mets in the first round (13th overall) in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of East High School in Cheyenne.
