Nice job David.
Thx to Scott for this screen grab of David Wright in the dugout Sunday night
What Mets fans talk about when not talking about the actual games.
The Mets did a great job with the ceremony for the remembrance of 9/11 last night. I am very glad I was there to experience it in person. Here is the first pitch from my view at my seats.
If you missed it, David Wright at one point was wearing a first responder cap in the dugout during the game. RA Dickey’s twitter feed says in the 4th inning “they came in the dugout and took it” whoever they are.
@RADickey43 has an interesting note about that, and his larger timeline helps us understand what was happening in the minds of the players.
Joe Torre, Major League Baseball’s executive vice president of operations, said he had spoken with the Mets on multiple occasions in the past month.
Torre said he had used his experience managing the Yankees in the 2001 to inform his decision. In the World Series that season, the Yankees wore caps honoring 9/11 first responders during warm-ups before switching to their official hats for the game.
He said the league was wary of setting a precedent.
