Mets place Niese on DL, recall Nickeas

 

METS PLACE LHP JONATHON NIESE ON DL;

RECALL CATCHER MIKE NICKEAS

 

 

FLUSHING, N.Y., August 24, 2011 – The New York Mets today announced the team placed lefthanded pitcher Jonathon Niese on the 15- Day Disabled List with an intercostal strain of the right side and recalled catcher Mike Nickeas from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League. Nickeas will wear uniform #13 and will be available for today’s game at Philadelphia.

 

Nickeas, 28, joins the Mets for the third time this season.  He made the club’s Opening Day roster and appeared in eight games before being optioned to Buffalo on April 29.  He was recalled on July 28 and was optioned back to the Bisons on August 5.

 

The 6-0, 213-pound native of Vancouver, British Columbia has hit .217 (5-23) with one double, one home run and three RBI in nine games this year with the Mets.

 

He has appeared in 14 major league games during his career, going 7-33 (.212) with one home run and three RBI.

 

Niese, 24, is 11-11 with a 4.40 ERA in 27 games, 26 starts this year. In 157.1 innings, he’s allowed 178 hits, 88 runs, 77 earned, with 44 walks and 138 strikeouts.

Mets Uni Patches for 2012 (My designs)

Hey everybody. I was having issues with my photoshop and I could not do a lot of the stuff I have done in the past with graphics. I am not going to lie, it drove me nuts.

I know there has been discussions about the looks of the uniforms next year and possible patches the Mets might use. I played around with a couple of different looks. More Patches after the jump. Which one do you like?  Hate them all? (Click on for bigger images)

Mets tickets on Groupon

I know some of you will be tempted to make fun of this, but I am a big advocate of discounted tickets. Why play in an empty park? Get people out there and maybe they buy a hot dog or a stupid looking black jersey.
