K-Rod Jerseys Discounted – A Possible Sign?

Thanks to MetsMom for sending this picture over.  Spotted at the Mets Clubhouse Store in Roosevelt Field, K-Rod’s authentic jerseys have been marked down from $239.99 to only $99.99

It looks like it’s the 2009 white pinstripe version (though I don’t see the CitiField patch).  Still that is a huge drop in price coming on the heels of this week’s incident.  Could it be a sign that K-Rod may not be a Met much longer?  Or is it just that nobody wants to buy his jersey anymore.

UPDATE – Thanks to eagle eyed readers this has been identified as most likely a 2009 replica.  Steve points out  “The way you can tell is because of the lack of MLB “batter” logo at neck, the single layer of twill (printed in 3-colors and with a white outline) and straight instead of “zig-zag” pinstripes).”

Cool Keith Hernandez article from 1999

(Update October 2018 – the links in the article no longer work)

I stumbled across this cool article from 1999 in which Keith Hernandez talks about the bar scene and his apartment.  Kinda fun!

In the living room, there was a special wine storage refrigerator. Lining the bookshelves were hundreds of hardcovers from the Easton Press Great Books collection. The room also had a 27-inch TV, with dozens of videocassettes stuffed in the console beneath it- I, Claudius , Lawrence of Arabia , The Princess Bride , The Crying Game , Easy Rider , King of Comedy . On the glass dining room table was a piece of notebook paper listing retired athletes (Wayne Gretzky, John McEnroe) whom Mr. Hernandez was considering for a celebrity golf tournament-which he may or may not put together later this summer. The apartment’s second bedroom had a Cross-Country Climber in the corner and a computer. On a shelf between two World Series trophies (St. Louis Cardinals, 1982, New York Mets, 1986) there was a complete set of the Encyclopaedia Britannica .

On his refrigerator were pictures of his three daughters; inside it was a carton of Tropicana orange juice, and that was about it.
