You own this Mets jersey: Dave Mlicki

Terence throws hit has in the ring to win the You Own This Jersey non-contest.   I hope he didn’t buy this after that Subway Series game.   Never forget Daniel Murphy’s Law.  How’s that Ike jersey Media Goon?   Did you get a Hessman yet?

MG and I were talking – it’s really cool that you guys dig this feature, which I admit is definitely derivative of Straight Cash Homey.

Remember last April?

I figure I will be busy in the office today…this seemed a great place to start.

To be fair, I had them losing the Subway Series. Maybe we all drank the kool-aid. Disaster disaster disaster.

(I owe you guys some Mets Yearbook covers. Just couldn’t keep my eyes open last night, and I will be home very late tonight. You’ll live.)

Mets Yearbook 1973 on at 7pm

Good morning Mets fans,

Remember that Mets team that was dead and buried in August and came back to win the NL? Well that won’t be happening this season, but you can watch Mets Yearbook 1973 at 7pm tonight.

Last night was one of the reasons that future Hall of Famer Jon Niese will only win 283 games.

I still like this idea of hiring someone from the Yankee kingdom to come across town and show us the way. Unless of course you think Jeff is about to go on a hot streak. What’s that Steve Swindall (spelling?) up to? I know he cheated on George Steinbrenner’s wife but prior to that George was going to hand the keys to the team to Steve and not his own sons. He must know something.

Yes that’s crazy talk but I am having a midlife crisis and I want to see another championship while I still have time on this earth….plus it’s only 11 years until the move to Mercury.

SI quotes Mets employee: franchise has diminished into laughability

Jeez Louise…what the heck happened while I was away….I’m playing catchup and just saw on Metsblog that SI declared the Mets the worst franchise.

Mr. Wilpon and other Mr. Wilpon – dare I say it…maybe you should hire someone out of the organization out of the Bronx to take over the organization.  I am not familiar with who does what either in your building or theirs, but with their new stadium, regional cable network and other major market advantages they sure seem better at this business that your crew.

It seems as if we’re forever talking about this franchise in terms of being embarrassing.   It’s August 16th…this is gonna be a miserable 6 weeks in Flushing.

Continuing to do the same thing with the same people makes no sense.

At least they are reportedly trying to void K-Rod’s contract.

More damning stuff from SI:

Said one Mets employee, “The reputation of this franchise has diminished into laughability.”

Part of the reason is that the Wilpons don’t seem to be following the mission set forth in their other, lesser-known company. Among the corporate values listed on the website for Sterling Equities are “candor and honesty” and “customer focus,” but the Mets’ ownership has instead provided silence and neglect.

If a business were to suffer bad press or some other crisis of confidence, the CEO or chief operating officer would hold a meeting or get on a conference call to reassure investors. Well, that’s what CEO Fred Wilpon and COO Jeff Wilpon need to do: Reassure fans and ticket-holders.

And they’ve each passed on opportunities to do so. On Friday an assistant who answered the phone in Jeff Wilpon’s office said he was “out of town.” Later in the day a spokesman returned the call from a reporter on Wilpon’s behalf said that the COO had “politely declined” to comment.
