Mets fans just booed Lindor on April 27 of Year 1

Guys……they just booed Lindor.

And I’m supposedly the negative one?

It’s Year One.

What do Mets fans think that accomplishes?  Do we not want Lindor to have a good relationship with the fans?  Do we want this to turn toxic already?  I really don’t get it.

You should never boo any Mets.  However, I do encourage you to remember how much you love Mookie Wilson when Pete Alonso strikes out.  Just think of Mookie and let out a solid moooooooo.

Vulgar Pete was 0 for 4 with 4 K’s tonight.  Mooooo,

Mets vs. Red Sox game notes for April 27, 2021

LHP Stephen Tarpley was optioned to the team’s Alternate Training Site following Sunday’s game but the Mets kept this a secret because they are very very stealthy.

INF José Peraza has been recalled from the Alternate Training Site and will be active for tonight’s game.  He will wear #18.  This is timely as I wanted to get @mediagoon something for his birthday, but he owns all Mets jerseys, so I told him I would go to Modell’s for him to pick one up.  That’s pretty cool of me, no?

The Mets are playing the Red Sox.  I hope someone remembers to bring up 1986.

Pete Alonso has 74 home runs since he entered the league in 2019….That is the highest total in the majors in that span… Alonso already ranks 27th on the Mets All-Time list…He trails Rusty Staub who is 26th with 75…He is on a five-game hitting streak and over his last nine games, he is batting .323/.417/.710 with six runs, four home runs, seven RBI and four walks.

On this day in 2004, Mike Piazza hit his 351st career home run as a catcher…This tied Piazza with Carlton Fisk for the most home runs as a catcher…The Mets defeated the Dodgers, 9-5, in Los Angeles…Piazza finished his career with 427 home runs, including 396 as a catcher.  He later attended a rally to support the re-election of President Trump.

Dominic Smith | INF/OF | .232, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 0 SB has been TERRIBLE.  Step it up Dom!

The Mets have played 18 games, the fewest in MLB…On the other hand, the Mets have allowed only 51 earned runs allowed, also the fewest in the majors.  It is possible these two stats are related.

Pete Alonso article about his legs sounds like crazy people

Before we begin..

In March and April 2019, Vulgar Pete Alonso had NINE HRs and batted .292.   So far he has FIVE HRs, which is a very different number, and is batting .262.   Maybe he will crush the ball this week but let’s remember these numbers before we begin with some nonsense in The Post.

Now on to people sounding like crazy people:

As the Mets slugger stops to consider his April success, which has evoked early comparisons to his record-setting 2019, it’s his lower half receiving the credit.

What fools are comparing Pete’s April to 2019?  Remember the numbers five and nine that I mentioned earlier.

“He’s been the old Pete coming back,” teammate J.D. Davis said. “I think a big part of it going from 2019 to ’20 and ’21 now, he was really big into his legs, he would get into his legs in ’19 and then in 2020 kind of got away from it.”

You ever notice that we seem to always be talking about Pete “coming back” or breaking out of slumps.  Like all the time.  That’s weird.

Pete Alonso, strike three.

Pete said…

“If I am swinging at balls in the dirt, there is no way I am going to stay in my legs. If I am swinging at balls over my head, there is no way I am going to be able to use my body and put good, quality swings on the ball. So I feel like pitch selection is real huge regarding my success so far early in the year.”

Well yeah.

Wilpons looking to sell SNY?

Interesting…the bold and the ???? are mine

The Wilpon family, which sold the team last year to Steve Cohen for about $2.42 billion, are considering multiple options for its majority stake in the network, said the people, who were granted anonymity because the talks are private.

Cohen is among those interested, the people said. He is coordinating with the Yankees (???), the principal owner of the YES Network, whose investors include Sinclair Broadcasting and RedBird Capital. That group has extensive RSN connections beyond just YES Network. Sinclair owns an additional 21 RSNs; RedBird recently acquired a stake in NESN (the Red Sox RSN) as part of a wider investment in Fenway Sports Group. (via Sportico)

Matt Harvey pitched against the Yankees. How did he do? You’ll look!

Happy Harvey Day everyone.  This is an extra special game for Matt because he LOVES the New York Yankees.  He has even been known to skip his own team’s game to go watch the Yankees play, and tonight he was able to watch Yankees batters from just 60 feet 6 inches away.

I think we all know Matt enjoys a good drink, and here he is before the game showing us he knows the importance of proper hydration.

And let’s take a look at his numbers so far this season.

In the first….Matt strikes out the first batter.  Sit down son!

Then he walks Stanton. UH OH. Here comes the Judge.  But….. I had to work until 8 so you’re gonna have to take it on faith that Judge hit into a DP, and we all know how much Matt likes a good DP so he’s out of the first.

In the second…a strikeout, then a single and a walk.  Uh oh, will Matt melt down?

Normally I’d have some fun shots here but the “rabbit ears” (cough) aren’t pulling in the Bat Signal for me tonight, so you will have to take my word for it that he probably looked like this…

Matt looks slimmer in the white uniform top, doesn’t he?

Anyway TDK gets an F9 and then strikes out Sanchez and gets out of it.

In the third,  a 1-2-3 including a strikeout of Stanton.

In the 4th, 1-2-3 again and TDK is cruising.

And in the 5th….TDK is rolling and looking quite confident, and now I have a “signal” (cough)

We know Matt likes to go out cruising, and he is cruising in the 5th inning with a one hitter!  Wow!

Let’s go to the 6th and be sure to get a screen grab, because we rarely see Matt Harvey in the 6th inning!  This is what it looks like!  Save this kids, you may  never see it again.

I’m finally watching live (in real time) and Matt can feel the pressure and he walks the leadoff hitter.  Uh oh!  He knows I am watching.

But have no fear, it’s Matt’s favorite thing in the whole world…..

It’s a timely DP!!!!

Now you’re probably like – hey man this post isn’t flowing the way it normally does, these jokes suck.   Well the answer is TELL MY WIFE TO STOP TALKING TO ME.    YOU GUYS WANT ME TO TELL HER TO STOP TALKING TO ME SO I CAN DO A MATT HARVEY RECAP POST?  ARE YOU MARRIED? THAT WOULD BE THE STUPIDEST FIGHT EVER.

So I blankly stare at her and she talks about something and finally goes away.

So it’s back to the game and oh no, Stanton doubles….

And HERE COMES THE JUDGE…who hits ANOTHER double, and the runner scores.

Matt is not pleased with himself.

And now not only is this post flowing now that  my wife has stopped talking, here is a man in a mask who wants to give Matt some Helpful Tips!

And here is the look of a man who is afraid his whole night will collapse…

But it does NOT and Matt is out of the inning and out of the game.

The Orioles wise up and don’t send Matt out there for the 7th.  Never push your luck with Matty Baseball.  6 is fine.

The line – 6 runs, 1 run (earned), 3 hits, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts.  His ERA drops to 4.26 and he is in line for the win if the O’s can hang on, but baseball is boring so I will just update the post in the morning.

Even the biggest Harvey Hater, which is me, has to admit he pitched well.  Now it’s back to the apartment for a quiet night of reflection.

I believe Matt is on-turn to pitch AT CITI FIELD in a few weeks.  That should be fun.

And in case you’re wondering what I root for in a Matt Harvey vs Pete Alonso at bat I will tell you.  It looks like this.

Matt didn’t declare himself The Next Seaver, that was you idiots.  Pete is Vulgar all on his own.

So not my best work, but the lack of a Bat-Signal and a chatty wife killed me.

Harvey Days will return!  Same Bat Blog, Same Bat Something Joke!

Will Matt be sad that his Yankees lost?

….

UPDATE: Matt Harvey got the win to go to 2 and 1.  He is slowly closing in on Seaver!
