21 Pictures of the outside of Citi Field includes Seaver and Hodges gates

As I have been saying all day, Citi Field now feels like the home of the Mets.  It’s all the little touches that add up.

Renaming the gates goes a long way – here’s the Hodges entrance on the first base side.  You’ll find Seaver on the right hand side.   Also on the first base side are new colorful banners including one of a retro Mr. Met.  I apparently didn’t take any good photos off that – will work on that for you.

The Apple looks fantastic in the new place – very bright and red and seems somehow bigger.

Various photos including the apple and the Seaver gate and just a general walk around, definitely click on them to make them bigger so you can see better…

McFadden’s Citi Field Construction Photos from Sunday 1pm

I am by no means a construction expert, but I suspect it will be a long night of work at McFadden’s.

I continue to be excited about the place.

In case you are jonesing to know what it might possibly look like, yesterday I took some photos of McFadden’s at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia.

In the meantime, here are some construction photos:

Pictures of Mets Hall of Fame and Museum: Uniform Display

In the Mets Hall of Fame and Museum you’ll come across a display of all the uniforms the Mets have worn throughout the years (main designs, nothing from Mercury or Civil Rights games or such).

The curator is my kind of guy.  Look what was chosen to represent the blue – yes, that’s a Ron Hodges jersey.  No, I’m not being sarcastic about Hodges like I usually do – this actually is a Ron Hodges jersey.  That’s awesomely funny.

By the way, the “Dodgers” thing is over.  There’s so much Mets stuff now that you feel great that they also mention Brooklyn and honor Jackie Robinson.  My kid asked “who is that?” about the man in the rotunda.  He also asked twice about Casey Stengel.

As you may have noticed, I like Mets jerseys.  Here’s some more photos:

Pictures of Mets Hall of Fame and Museum: The Plaques

When you first walk into the Mets Hall of Fame and Museum you will see a wall of plaques on the left hand side.

The plaques are reminiscent at what you might see at Cooperstown, and the Mets wisely left room to enshrine more heroes.

Here are some more photos of the various Hall of Fame members.  Click any picture to make it larger.

As a first impression, these go a long way.  If you’re wondering about the busts that used to be in the Diamond Club at Shea, I was told those would be displayed at a later date.  In the back of the museum there’s a section of weird modern art things that doesn’t work so well, I wouldn’t have even mentioned it and I am not complaining, but I can imagine the busts going in that display case.  More pics…

Citi Field: Home of the New York Mets

Hello friends – I am back from Citi Field and I am VERY happy.

Citi Field is clearly the home of the New York Mets.

When you walk in you feel like the Mets play there.

All the little touches add up – driving in and seeing the parking guys wearing blue and blue caps (orange NY outlined in white).  Meet the Mets (including the second verse) on the PA!   The gate being labeled Seaver.  Now the Dodgers stuff seems minor and very cool, contextualized in history rather than dominant.

I noticed the color black has been downplayed – you’ll see the museum is blue and orange.  I noticed blue retro jerseys on sale in the store ($140 for a blue Seaver).  At times I thought I had bought the team.  That good.

And then there’s the museum….WOW.

I took over 250 pictures (my usual blurry ill-framed type), and Media Goon who is with me and is a much better photographer took more.

It’s one of the 10 nicest days we’ll have all year so I want to go outside and enjoy it, but I will post pictures tonight.  I want to break them into sections and different posts.

Overall, fantastic job by the Mets.  I’m not here to talk about the past or mistakes that have been made.  Great job by whoever called the shots this season.  Media Goon and I paused to try to come up with something to complain about (just for sport) – nothing.   Great great job.

Since I know everyone is chomping at the bit – here’s a few pictures (click “continue reading” if you are on the main Mets Police page) and I will have more tonight.
