Mets-Nationals series postponed.

No surprise here. They announced it about ten minutes after I started asking on twitter when they’d admit it.

As I am busy this weekend this is convenient for me. I of course hope the Nationals the best of health.

I’m also busy Monday so let’s work on a safe way to get Monday postponed. Can someone make it rain?

So what number do the Mets retire for Ron Darling?

There had been recent chatter about Donald Trump Supporter Mike Piazza working with the Alumni Crew about retiring more numbers.   While I imagine numbers like 17 would be ahead of Ron….at some point one should look at Ron as both a great Met and a long term broadcaster.

Can you retire 12 when someone is going to wear it for over a decade?

Do you retire 44?

Is Ron not worthy?

Discuss!

Personally, I don’t want them to go bananas with retired numbers.  Team Captain Keith Hernandez deserves it…but I am not ready to retire a number for John Franco…so maybe not.

How about we retire 17 and 5 and then catch our breath.

Here’s the Mets 2021 Roster!

My friends the Mets are slinging press releases left and right and now they even come with images!!  Woooo.  That’s Steve Cohen for ya. The Wilpons were too cheap to attach images.

Is Pete Alonso the Mets 6th biggest star?

Look at this image the Mets tweeted – and now think of it as a movie poster.  Pete is buried in the bottom right which is where you place Rose in your Star Wars poster.  He definitely isn’t one of the leads.   Maybe even the Mets know to bet on Dom as Pete is likely to get booed this summer.

Why will Pete get booed? Well aside from all the strikeouts, people have unrealistic expectations about his power, as if he’s going to be just the 9th person in baseball history hit to hit 50 home runs more than once (and three of those are McGwire, Sosa and A-Rod who…you know…played around the same time and stuff.)
