Remember when topics like a 4 out save or a Daniel Murphy error at first base costing the Mets a game would upset people?

These days you get nothing but a shrug.  A “who cares?” vibe.  A “are you surprised?” vibe.

It will be interesting to see where everybody’s head is at come March, but right now it feels like 1978 around these parts.

Hey remember we were talking about these cars the Mets are giving away and how they are like, well, red?

Here’s what Mr. Sunshine the Yankees fans sent me from Fake New Yankee Stadium.   Notice that it isn’t red.  In fact it’s in the colors of the Yankees.  Imagine that.

Eventually David Howard is going to need to hire me to police such things for the franchise.  “Hey Shannon, what  do you think about these red cars we want to give away?”   I’ll catch little things like “well David, the car is red and our team colors are blue and orange and even arguably black, so why would we give away a red car?”

The good news is Mr. Sunshine is starting to get the jokes…his note included:

Yes, Sunshine…like all things Yankee you could imagine this car being driven by Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, Reggie and Jeter..and Jeter would drive it with class.

Sunshine may be doing some playoff coverage for us which should be entertaining.   He’s somewhere between Michael Kay and John Sterling on the Yankee Rose colored glasses scale.   He’s also upgraded his seats like 7 times this season and should be across the moat by season’s end.

Frankly this is a better off-season topic.

It’s stupid.  It’s about who had the best one year…so instead of Hernandez being a layup at first you kinda have to vote for Delgado, etc.
