SLACKISH REACTION:  Sundays have become the wasteland day.  It’s funny, back when I started the blog Sunday would be a boom day, because newspapers (for longer readers, newspapers were a collection of yesterday’s tweets printed on paper and delivered you your house via truck)…newspapers would write big Sunday Columns.  That no longer seems to be a thing, and the Daily News threw in the towel on sports anyway.

ICYMI Art Shamsky opened up about Tom Seaver’s her;th struggles.

I’m sure the guys at AAIMBR will waste your time discussing Syndergaard’s spring training start as if pitchers never have bad ST starts or that ST starts matter other than getting the work in.  As for me, I will keep this short since nothing is happening.

Truly terrible.

From MPHQ, I have heard about Tom’s health declining for years now and really never wrote much about it because he’s been private about it.

I personally first noticed it in 2012 at the Mets 50th Anniversary Team thing.  Tom just didn’t have the same storytelling spark, and seemed to not be remember details.

At the first QBC I had a side conversation with Ed Charles who brought up that Tom wasn’t well.  Ed may have even said it during his acceptance of the Gil Hodges Award.

Some of the blognoscenti have talked about it privately…but this is really the first time I have seen a notable figure speak openly about Tom.

“He can forget things that happened just a few minutes before,’’ Harrelson told Shamsky. “And he repeats himself a lot. But when he gets his rest, he still has a lot of energy.’’ (via Newsday)

I wish Tom nothing but the best, as I am sure you do too.

SLACKISH REACTION:  Last night my daughter got a flat tire in a safe place.  She called AAA and I headed out to meet her.   The AAA guy, whose name I didn’t get, was very cool and came quickly and was super helpful.  I thanked him and said I hope the rest of his night was quiet.

He then said he was home and came out for this run.  He had been dealing with trying to determine what to do about his 14 year old dog who he thought it might be time to put to sleep.  Like last night, or today.  OMG.   I asked the dogs name, her name is Chloe.

So sir, I thank you, and who knows, maybe you’re a Mets fan who likes making fun of Matt Harvey and you’ll see this and know someone gave a hoot about you and Chloe.

OK now that we’re all crying…

Oh yeah the Mets signed Carlos Gomez to a minor league deal.  That’s part of Wags’ Even More New Culture in which the Mets don’t cheap out and just hope that things work out.

Did you see Brandon Nimmo actually had a virus and his sickness had nothing to do with chicken.  So all you jerkhole beat reporters can now double apologize.

The Syracuse Mets will play as the Butter Somethings…I just don’t care but here’s the info.

The Mets have a Starting $5.75 ticket promotion.  Or it might be $6.50 I dunno.

NOT LINKING: There are some horrific articles today ranging from one of the Who Cares guys predicting the Mets will win the East to the AAIMBR saying the Mets need more players.  Thanks for the insight guys.
