From a Wednesday Newsday crossword puzzle.
What Mets fans talk about when not talking about the actual games.
Hat tip to CoreyNYC for pointing this out. The Mets have added two sections to their group sales options.
One is the expected Left Field Wall seats. There are 102 new seats added from a price of $100-$200 depending on the game level. This includes the food and drink package and four additional tickets to another game for the group leader.
The other new section is the Acela Club Patio. This is the outdoor section of the Acela Club on the second level in left field in front of the glass windows. Formerly was part of the club, but now it sounds like you can book it for your group if you like. The section hold 28-40 people but because it’s table seating must be booked in increments of four.
Before the game Thursday night, Some of the Mets signed and took pictures for Tuesday’s Children, a charity organization involved with the families impacted by the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Several of the Mets players were kind enough to talk with, sign for, and take pictures with some of these families.
The Mets are “bleeding cash” and could lose as much as $70 million this year, Fred Wilpon said in a story that will appear in this week’s Sports Illustrated.
The article in the Daily News all adds this fun.
The payments to Bonilla were based on an interest rate of 8%; the Mets planned on investing the Bonilla money with Madoff, whom they expected would give them a 10% to 12% return.
via Fred Wilpon tells Sports Illustrated that Mets are ‘bleeding cash’ in article to appear this week.
The SI article should be fun. It’s exactly the kid of article the Mets need this week. Oh Fred, what have you done?
Let me get this right…
– Jose Reyes isn’t getting Crawford money thus presumably won’t be on the 2012 Mets
– David Wright is not a superstar
– the team is “bleeding money” and “shitty”
and someone is supposed to give you $200 million to not have a controlling interest. Seems like a great investment.
