Looks like the Mets attendance was up 165 people per game

26,000 people enjoying a Mets game.
26,000 people enjoying a Mets game.

According to ESPN the Mets drew 2,148,808 in 80 games in 2014 for an average of 26,860.  You may recall Banner Day was a true single admission doubleheader, hence the 80 games.

2,135,657 was the number for 2013.  So 2014 had more!  The 2013 average was 26,695…also in 80 dates.

So there you have it Mets fans, the Mets drew an extra 165 people per game this season.

Baseball dominating local TV ratings…well usually, just not the Mets

Keith

Here’s an interesting read say you own a baseball team and maybe even your own TV network,  Seems that in many markets baseball is the most popular thing on TV.

But not every team pulled solid ratings during prime time.

The Mets and the Marlins saw their broadcasts rank 7th in prime time.

Oh.

According to the article, the Yankees finish 3rd in NYC (behind ABC and CBS) and draw 254,000 households.  The Mets draw 130,000 households which is more than most of the teams on the list.

Perhaps one of these days Misters Wilpon, Katz, Mahr and others will give us a product that is entertaining to watch in person and on television.

Uni Watch on the Mets uniform change

Over at Uni Watch (which should of course be part of your daily routine) General Lukas said..

There’s been some chatter about the Mets making a minor uni adjustment for next season. I know what it is and am not allowed to talk about it, but I can confirm that it’s genuinely minor and not a big deal.

Remain calm.

“I said, ‘David, I love you, I would do anything for you,’” Affleck said. “‘But I will not wear a Yankees hat. I just can’t. I can’t wear it because it’s going to become a thing, David. I will never hear the end of it. I can’t do it.’ And I couldn’t put it on my head.”

Behind the blog:  I never know what to do with these stories.  This post didn’t really interest me, but I know it will be all over the Metsophere in about an hour so I felt like I should post it.  I dunno…I hate when everyone does the same thing and I guess I’m just as bad.

In other news, I just was going through the images part of the background program here, looks like @mediagoon has uploaded a ton of his jerseys for posts.

MIKE BARWIS TO OVERSEE METS STRENGTH & CONDITIONING PROGRAMS

The New York Mets today announced that Mike Barwis, a strength and conditioning consultant to the Mets since 2011, has been appointed to oversee all Major League and Minor League strength and conditioning for the Mets organization.  Barwis, known for his “Barwis Methods” performance training programs for professional and amateur athletes, will remain a consultant, but will now be directly involved in the hiring and supervision of all Mets strength and conditioning coaches and will be responsible for implementing a system-wide performance training program.

In connection with this appointment, Jim Malone, the Mets Major League strength and conditioning coach for the last two years, will leave the organization to pursue other professional opportunities.

“Jim Malone did an excellent job for us over the last two seasons, and we wish him well,” said Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson.  “Mike Barwis and his organization offer the Mets an inclusive in-season and off-season approach to performance training, which we think will accelerate the development of our players at all levels.”

Maybe instead of moving in the fences they can make some of the players strong enough to hit a ball out of Citi Field.- Goon
