The reason listed for WHY the Mets are the #2 baseball brand is a hoot: Dodgers

Metsblog did a nice recap of the story about Forbes listing the Mets as the #2 brand in baseball (I will give you one guess at #1) but what is important to the redership here at the Mets Police is the reason given by Forbes. Ready?

League: Major League Baseball

Brand Value: $159 million

The Mets have built their brand in part by successfully integrating the Brooklyn Dodgers’ past with their own: Look no further than Citi Field’s Jackie Robinson Rotunda.

Yeah, that’s gone over really well with fans.  It has nothing to do with being in a market of 20,000,000 people.

Enjoy the Forbes article here.

  1. I missed that tidbit. Poor job by Forbes, when what they probably should’ve mentioned was the Mets Latin connections and how they’re perceived in places like the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico

  2. How Boston is not number 2 I don’t understand. They’ve had movies and songs written about them and the best stadium in the majors.
